Three Common Issues That May Indicate You Need A Dishwasher Appliance Repair

Owning a dishwasher is a nice luxury. It prevents you from having to hand wash every plate, cup or fork that gets used. Unfortunately though, parts in a dishwasher can wear as they are used, and one day, you may go to remove dishes and find that they are not clean. This may signal to you that a dishwasher appliance repair is needed. Here are three common issues that can arise with the dishwasher that should signal to you that appliance repair may be needed.

Water is Not Pumping In or Out of the Dishwasher

If you notice that water is not pumping into the dishwasher or out of the dishwasher, there are a number of different problems that may be present. Many modern dishwashers have sensors that let them know when there is enough water in the dishwasher and when the water needs to be drained. If water is not coming in or pumping out, this sensor may need to be replaced. Alternatively, a drain pump or a clogged drain in the dishwasher can prevent water from being pumped out or removed from the dishwasher.

The Dishwasher is Not Warm After Running a Cleaning Cycle

Another problem that can arise with your dishwasher that may need to be repaired is a problem with the heating coil. The heating coil in the dishwasher produces hot water to clean your dishes and the heat used to dry your dishes. If you stop your dishwasher mid-cycle or pull dishes out immediately after the cleaning cycle has ended, and notice the dishes are not hot, your heating coil is likely out.

There is a Puddle of Water Coming From Under the Dishwasher

The final reason why you may need dishwasher appliance repair is that you notice a puddle of water coming from under the dishwasher. The most common reason why a dishwasher leaks is because the seal around the door has a crack or hole. The seal can wear over time, and may need to be replaced. A professional can determine if the leak is due to a seal problem, or other issues, such as rust, that cannot be repaired.

If you notice that the dishes in your dishwasher are not clean, you should take the time to watch your dishwasher as it goes through a cleaning cycle. If you notice that water is not pumping into or out of the dishwasher, if you notice the water in the dishwasher is not getting hot, or you see a puddle of water seeping from under the dishwasher, you are likely in need of dishwasher repair.
